Full Time Pros

CHRIS MARRA, Head Pro — started playing at the club when he was 14. He played #1 for Guilford High and played Div. I tennis for Central Ct. State Univ. for 2 ½ years. He taught Juniors at the Club from 1988 -1995. He returned to GRSC in 2003 to run the Junior program. He now teaches both adults and juniors and coaches the Branford HS girls tennis team. He and his wife Carolyn live in New Britain with their first child, Jonathan Robert. Email Chris

STEVE GODIKSEN, Assistant Head Pro—is celebrating his 26th year at GRSC!!! He grew up and played tennis in Simsbury and at Biscayne College. He continues to play competitive tennis where he has been ranked as high as #7 in singles and #1 in doubles. He teaches adults and juniors and runs our pro shop. He lives in Clinton, and has three sons. Email Steve

JERRY ROSS—has been teaching at GRSC for 8 years. Jerry lives in Clinton, but is originally from Dallas, Pennsylvania where he played #1 for Dallas high school and then attended Kings College where he was team captain and the #1 singles and doubles player. Email Jerry

CLAUDIO ARMANDI—He spent two summers at Evert teaching and working alongside some of the world’s best junior players, touring pros, and coaches. Claudio is also a USPTA and PTR certified professional and has been recognized nationally by the USTA. When he’s not eating, breathing, sleeping tennis, Claudio likes to spend time with his family and friends, play competitive soccer, travel to new and interesting places, play blackjack & chess, collect Roger Federer memorabilia, and discuss the latest and greatest in the world of current events and politics! MATT FRAENZA— Having started full time at GRSC in Septemebr 2007, Matt got married in July 2008 and lives with his wife Erin in Branford. He is USPTR certified and is a tournament director for many USTA jr. events. He has been teaching tennis for over 10 years and has taught at the Owenego Club in Branford before coming to GRSC. JOSH ALTSCHULER started working with juniors in Fall 2007. He now teaches adults and juniors. He grew up in Woodbridge and now lives in East Haven. Email Josh.

JUSTIN LUCHT started playing at GRSC as a junior, taught here for a number of years and returned to our full time pro staff in September 2008. He and his wife, Kara, live in Middletown and are expecting their first child, a boy, in November 2008. Email Justin.
